Synnex Group CEO Kee Ong was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus by NYCU, with the award presented by NYCU President Chi-Hung Lin.

Kee Ong, Chief Executive Officer of SYNNEX Group, was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on March 20, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in corporate leadership and management.

Mr. Ong graduated in 1989 from the Department of Computer Science at National Chiao Tung University (now NYCU). He began his career as a software R&D engineer at MiTAC, before being transferred to MiTAC Europe headquarters in the UK as a product manager. In 1998, he joined SYNNEX Australia, and at the age of 40 was appointed General Manager of SYNNEX Australia and New Zealand. During his tenure, he led the team to significantly expand product portfolios, deepen channel development, and establish new business models. Within six years, SYNNEX Australia rose to become the market leader in Australia's ICT distribution industry. Today, the Australia and New Zealand operations generate annual revenue exceeding USD 1.9 billion, ranking among the top 120 enterprises in Australia.

Beyond business expansion, Mr. Ong also spearheaded the development of SYNNEX's two major logistics centers in Australia. The first and second phases of the highly automated Sydney logistics center were completed in 2014 and 2023 respectively, while the new Melbourne headquarters and logistics center officially commenced operations in 2025. These investments have laid a solid foundation for SYNNEX's long-term growth in the Australian market.

With extensive international experience and strong cross-cultural management capabilities, Mr. Ong has consistently delivered outstanding business performance. In 2023, he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of SYNNEX Group. NYCU noted that Mr. Ong exemplifies technological expertise, a global perspective, and a people centric leadership philosophy, making a profound contribution to the internationalization of Taiwanese enterprises and bringing great honor to his alma mater.

Kee Ong expressed his deep appreciation to his alma mater for the Distinguished Alumnus recognition, and extended special thanks to his mentors, Matthew Miau and Evans Tu, for their guidance and support. He shared that pivotal shift in mindset—and the courage to step beyond his comfort zone—enabled his transition from engineering to management, broadened his remit from local operations to global leadership, and accelerated his move from traditional models to innovation. He attributed his success to five guiding principles—perseverance, focus, diligence, composure, and patience—maintaining calm under pressure and meeting challenges with disciplined execution and resilience.

Synnex Group President Evans Tu attended the ceremony to offer his congratulations. Kee Ong is the third Synnex executive to receive this honor, following President Evans Tu and Senior Vice President David Tu.
