The Y.S. Award, hosted by the Y.S. Educational Foundation and co-organized by the Synnex Foundation and partners, recently held its finals. A total of 714 teams from universities and high schools participated. Following a six-month evaluation, the winners were announced, with total prize money exceeding NT$3 million. SYNNEX Group President Evans Tu attended the ceremony and presented the Digital Application Award. The Gold Award was claimed by a joint team from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and National Ilan University for their project “AI-Based Non-Invasive Live Pig Body Composition Analysis and Lean Meat Ratio Estimation System,” receiving NT$200,000.
The Y.S. Educational Foundation was established in memory of Mr. Miao, Yu-Siou, founder of the MiTAC-Synnex Group. As part of its mission, it launched the Y.S. Award to inspire students to develop digital innovation and application skills. For 23 consecutive years, the Award has provided a platform for young talents to showcase creativity and has played a key role in nurturing talent for Taiwan's ICT and semiconductor industries.
Centered on the theme “AI Enables a Sustainable Future,” the competition showcased innovations across education, energy, healthcare, finance, public safety, sustainability, digital imaging, and lifestyle applications. The projects demonstrated students' ability to solve real-world challenges, reinforcing the Y.S. Award as a premier stage for tech-driven creativity. The top honors were awarded as follows: the AI Competition (High School Category) Gold Award went to Hualien Senior High School for its “Adaptive Learning Support System”; the Digital Application Gold Award was claimed by a joint team from National Pingtung University of Science and Technology and National Ilan University for their “AI-Based Non-Invasive Live Pig Body Composition Analysis and Lean Meat Ratio Estimation System”; the Industrial Design Gold Award was presented to National Taipei University of Education for “Ladybug Breeding Station”; and the Motion Graphics Gold Award was earned by National Taiwan University of Arts for “Security System: AI Activated.”
