The 2nd K. T. Li Award Ceremony was held at the Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei recently, and Matthew Miau, Chairman of Synnex Technology International Corporation, and Bruce Cheng, Founder of Delta Group, won the awards.

Senior adviser to the president K. T. Li possessed a scientist’s spirit of inquiry and an open mind toward new knowledge. He developed policies from a broad perspective, aiming to create the greatest benefit for the nation and practically planning Taiwan’s development blueprint. Through the establishment of the “ K. T. Li Award “, the K.T. Li Foundation for Development of Science and Technology promotes the prosperity of Taiwan's technology industry and promotes economic growth, and the first award recipient was TSMC founder Morris Chang. Paul Wang, chairman of the foundation, pointed out that K. T. Li helped Taiwan rise from difficulties with his insight, and created a solid foundation for Taiwan to gain a foothold in the world with great foresight. The second award recipients, Mr. Matthew Miau and Mr. Bruce Cheng, started their businesses in such an entrepreneurial environment and grew together with Taiwan's economy.

In his acceptance speech, Matthew Miau stated, "In 1976, I returned to Taiwan to join MiTAC Inc., the first computer company in Taiwan, introduced Intel microprocessors and mini computers, developed the world's first Chinese commercial terminal and simplified Chinese input method, and laid the foundation for domestic development of software and hardware. This challenging journey, from computer business to computer industry, was greatly inspired, encouraged, and supported by Mr. K. T. Li . He even joined me in meetings with foreign companies for joint ventures, where international investors were impressed by Taiwan's ambition and forward-looking plans for the IT industry, leading to many successful partnerships. Mr. K. T. Li truly understands national issues, possessing vision, strategy, and direction. Without him, the information industry would be many years behind where it is today."

Matthew Miau expressed emotionally, "I am fortunate to have been involved from the earliest stages and to have persisted until today, promoting the establishment of Taiwan’s ICT ecosystem through vertical and horizontal integration. I am grateful for the help of nobles along the way." He added, “Receiving this award is not only an honor but also brings back memories of my time with Mr. K. T. Li, the moments we shared, and the ups and downs we faced together. Mr. K. T. Li is like a mentor who has a great influence on me. The day after tomorrow marks MiTAC’s 50th anniversary, this award seems to have received the encouragement of Mr. K.T. Li again, which is precious to me and I am very proud!" His heartfelt words moved the audience.
